CT FOUNDATION work with the government, national and international organizations on rights based and humanitarian work in the state of Jammu and Kashmir

  • Child's Rights & Protection Issues:

The Child Protection Program is a core sector of our work. We utilize a child rights programming framework and keep in mind the cross-cutting themes of child participation, non-discrimination and best interests of children. Our child protection work focuses on three key “evidence” groups: 1. Children affected by disasters/emergencies and conflict, including Disaster Risk Reduction. 2. Exploitation & child trafficking 3. Different forms of child labor and children with inadequate parental care including alternatives to institutional care. Understanding good and best practices in care and protection is a major focus of our program work. This requires quality monitoring and evaluation (research & studies) in order to identify good practices in documentation and sharing of this evidence. Some of the most important activities of our Child Protection program include: Enhanced understanding of the situation of vulnerable children in need of care and protection. Building the capacity of children and supporting their participation in their own protection, including child-led organizations and child-to-child support.

Promoting diversion from inappropriate or punitive responses and encouraging the reintegration of children who have been stigmatized because of their coping strategies in the absence of effective protection mechanism. Demonstrating the benefits of preventative approach and early intervention over intervention at a later stage. Supporting the development of community-based care and protection systems. Support to the co-ordination and integration of services and support to vulnerable children. Encouraging moves away from services directed towards particular problems towards services addressed to supporting the functioning and coping strategies of children and families. Building the care and protection of children into broader social welfare, child labor, poverty reduction and other national development and protection schemes Building the capacity of duty bearers to deliver effective care and protection in their respective organizations and institutions. Advocating for legal and policy reform in line with the principles and standards of the Child Rights for change and other relevant international and regional instruments.

  • Capacity Building, awareness and advocacy :

We work closely with different institutions, organizations and with the government departments for building capacities of individuals and institutions based on the requirements and the needs of the concern department. We are strongly creating awareness about the core areas we work for e.g. on Child Rights and Protections Issues, Disability, Health and Education related issues both at Policy level as well as at community level. So far we have conducted hundreds of such programs at community as well as at State level for awareness raising and for the advocacy of the concern issues.

  • Disability and Empowerment :

We run Rehabilitation Centre located at Baghat Srinagar with 65 children and OPD from last six years. We not only impart special skill to the disabled children but also create a conduce atmosphere for the empowerment of his or her family by means of imparting livelihood skill through vocational training Centre.

  • Education & Health Care :

CT FOUNDATION's Education and Health Care Initiative, launched in 2008, seeks to mobilize and strengthen health promotion and education activities at the local and regional levels. The Initiative is designed to improve the health of students, school personnel, families and other members of the community through schools. The goal of CT FOUNDATION's Health & Education Initiative is to increase the number of schools that can truly be called "Health Education Promoting Schools". Although definitions will vary, depending on need and circumstance, a Health-Promoting School can be characterized as a school constantly strengthening its capacity as a healthy setting for living, learning and working. Our strategies Research to improve school health programs: Evaluation research and expert opinion is analyzed and consolidated to describe the nature and effectiveness of school health programs. Building capacity to advocate for improved school health programs: technical documents are generated that consolidate research and expert opinion about the nature, scope and effectiveness of school health programs. Each advocacy document makes a strong case for addressing an important health problem, identifies components of a comprehensive school health program, and provides guidance in integrating the issue into the components.
